Chatting

Chatting can be a lot of fun. In the Village we have two ways to chat. The Tavern on the Screen is available to all members and will also allow one unregistered visitor as a guest. The Cozy Cuppa Tearoom is only available to Villagers.

Tavern: First of all see if there is anyone in the Tavern. There is a box on the left of the main page called "Who's Chatting." If anyone is in there, then their names will show. If there is no one in there but there are other folks in the Village, then you can enter and wait, so that they can see your name. To enter the Tavern, click Tavern on the Screen on the main menu. A new window will open and at the bottom you will see coloured buttons for you to choose the colour of your text while you are chatting. Having coloured text makes it easier to distinguish who is talking. Then click the button which says Enter Chat Room. The main Chat Room window will open. At the bottom of the window is a box to type in your messages. When you have done that, click to button called Talk to send your message. It will appear in the window. When you have finished chatting, click the Logout button to leave the chat room.

Tearoom: First of all see if there is anyone in the Tearoom. Click on the menu item called "Who's Having Tea." If anyone is in there, then their names will show in a new window. Close that window when you have used it. If there is no one in there but there are other folks in the Village, then you can enter the Tearoom and wait, so that they can see your name. To enter the Tearoom, click Tearoom on the main menu. A new window will open asking you to choose a username. This doesn't have to be your regular Village name. Click the button called "Login". At the bottom of the new window there are lots of buttons for you to set things like text colour. Having coloured text makes it easier to distinguish who is talking. Then click the button which says "Enter Chat Room." The main Chat Room window will open. At the bottom of the window is a box to type in your messages. When you have done that, click to button called "Talk" to send your message. It will appear in the window. When you have finished chatting, click the button which looks like a door to leave the chat room.
